Professional Background

Paul began his legal career as a Deputy Public Defender for Los Angeles County, and tried cases in Downtown Los Angeles, Compton and Long Beach. Recruited by a large national lawfirm for his trial experience, he was assigned to high profile criminal and civil cases. He founded Marron Lawyers in 1995 and has grown the Firm from a solo practice to a litigation and outside general counsel firm dedicated to excellence and winning for clients. Mr. Marron has tried 35 cases to jury verdict and 30+ to judges, administrative tribunals and arbitrators. For plaintiffs, he has secured multiple judgments after trial of over $1M. For defendants, he has secured complete defense verdicts in trials where plaintiffs sought as much as 8 figure judgments.

Paul's career includes numerous wins in bet-the-company cases. Clients have described him as a "legal sharpshooter." After a lengthy trial, the judge described Paul as “among the finest litigators I’ve had in court.” In another case, plaintiff sought $5M. While under Mr. Marron’s cross examination, plaintiff fired his lawyer and dismissed his case the next day. Mr. Marron secured a finding of “independent contractor” status and a $1.1M+ judgment against the California Employment Development Department (EDD) in a 4.5 month Sacramento trial in which EDD sought to re-classify independent contractors operating throughout California as employees and dismantle his client’s business model. Paul has deep class action experience including jury trial and tried to verdict results in litigation covering as many as 1500 individuals. In June of 2025, Paul obtained a $3,307,481.00 jury verdict including punitive damages in San Diego. This was a lawsuit against former highly placed managers who opened a business competing with Paul’s client, a multistate transportation company headquartered in Texas.

Paul has represented a wide range of clients, from Fortune 1000 companies to small businesses. Clients have brought him and his skilled team in to try cases across California, and in ID, CO & TN; and litigate in TX, AZ, OR, MI, MN, NY & FL.

Paul is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. He has repeatedly been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer. He is Martindale-Hubbell av rated (highest possible rating by the most prestigious national attorney ranking service, based on anonymous judge and peer review).

Education

Paul Marron received his law degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley. He was on the Dean’s Honor List at Cal and member of Cal’s nationally ranked rowing (crew) team.
