Paul Marron received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis, School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley. He was on the Dean’s Honor List at Cal and member of Cal’s nationally ranked rowing (crew) team.
Paul began his legal career as a Deputy Public Defender for Los Angeles County, and tried cases in Downtown Los Angeles, Compton and Long Beach. Paul was recruited out of the Public Defender's Office to work at Wyman Bautzer Kuchel & Silbert, a large and prominent entertainment and business Law Firm in Century City, where he was assigned to high profile criminal and civil cases. He founded Marron Lawyers in 1995 and has grown the Firm from a solo practice to a litigation and outside general counsel firm dedicated to excellence and achievement for clients. Mr. Marron has tried 35 cases to jury verdict and 30+ to judges, administrative tribunals and arbitrators. For plaintiffs, he has secured multiple judgments after trial of over $1M. For defendants, he has secured complete defense verdicts in cases where opponents sought multi-million dollar judgments.
Paul's career includes numerous wins in bet-the-company cases. Clients have described him as a "legal sharpshooter," and a judge called him “among the finest litigators I’ve had in court.” In one case where the plaintiff sought $5M, the plaintiff fired his lawyer while under Mr. Marron's cross-examination, and plead for settlement and dismissal. Recently, Mr. Marron led a trial team that secured a $1.4M+ judgment for a national franchisor, where the CA EDD sought to reclassify "mom and pop" franchisees and the workers they hired as employees of the franchisor.
Paul has represented a wide range of clients, from Fortune 1000 companies to small businesses. Clients have brought him, and the skilled trial team he leads, in to try cases across California, and in Idaho, Colorado and Tennessee, as well as litigate in Texas, Michigan, Arizona, Oregon, New York and Florida.
Paul is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and has been repeatedly recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer. He is Martindale-Hubbell AV rated (highest possible rating by the most prestigious national attorney ranking service, based on anonymous judge and peer review).
Steven C. Rice received his Juris Doctor from University of California, Davis, School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government (Cum Laude) from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Steve has been a civil litigator for over 30 years and is an experienced trial lawyer, handling innumerable jury trials to verdict, several of which resulted in his clients recovering more than $1 million. He has served as lead appellate counsel in a number of complex matters, including briefing and oral argument. Steve’s cases involve many areas of civil litigation, and he has been designated by other attorneys as an expert witness in the fields of insurance defense and civil litigation. His areas of expertise include employment litigation (Title VII, DFEH, EEOC); tort and contract law; class actions, maritime and aviation law; business torts and unfair trade; and punitive damage issues. Steve has also served as a discovery referee, and as a Judge Pro Tem.
Steve is a member of the State Bar of California, the Los Angeles County Bar Association; and the Long Beach Bar Association.
Paul B. Arenas received his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stanford University.
Paul is a civil litigator with 25 years’ experience, specializing in the areas of maritime and transportation. Mr. Arenas has represented insurance and cargo interests, including, but not limited to, freight forwarders, trucking and logistics providers, warehousemen, cargo handlers and airlines, vessel and other interests in Jones Act, and has provided advice on marine insurance coverage issues. Mr. Arenas is experienced in trial, arbitration, mediation and administrative proceedings, and has argued twice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in matters involving the Warsaw and Montreal Convention on International Air Carriage.
Paul is a member of the State Bar of California; the Maritime Law Association of the United States, and the Transportation Lawyers Association.
Gregory B. Scarlett received his Juris Doctor from University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government/Philosophy from Florida State University, and his Associates Degree in Journalism from the University of Florida. Greg served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals, and Ninth Judicial Circuit.
Greg has been involved in civil litigation for 30 years, specializing in transportation regulatory matters, general commercial litigation, and complex civil litigation in the practices areas of business litigation, consumer class actions, wage and hour class actions, whistle-blower/qui tam lawsuits, wrongful termination, unfair competition and misappropriation of trade secret disputes, and director and officer liability cases. Mr. Scarlett is an experienced trial, arbitration, mediation, administrative proceedings and appellate lawyer.
Greg is a member of the State Bar of California; the Los Angeles County Bar Association; and the National Bar Association.
Alexander T. Marx received his Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California. Alex served as an extern in the chambers of Judge John G. Koeltl of the Southern District of New York and with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
Alex has a diverse practice which includes employment law, business litigation, real estate litigation and fraud litigation, as well as white collar law, securities regulatory compliance, data privacy, and internal investigations. He has experience in complex litigation in both federal and state court, as well as ADR proceedings. His internal investigation experience includes representing clients in internal investigations related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), responding to government subpoenas, and representing clients before the Securities and Exchange Commission.
