Professional Background
Together with her diverse legal background and a passion to serve as a lawyer, Nicola is committed to being a zealous and dedicated advocate for her clients. Having passed the California Bar Exam, Nicola joined Marron Lawyers after being admitted as an Attorney in California, and has since focused on honing her civil litigation, administrative proceeding and alternative dispute resolution skills, with a focus on business litigation, employment matters, class actions, maritime and transportation law. While studying for the California Bar, she interned at an Orange County Law Firm, gaining experience in personal injury, immigration, and employment law.
Prior to relocating to the U.S., Nicola practiced Law in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with a prominent President's Counsel at a leading Law Firm. There, she appeared before various Sri Lankan Courts, including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Commercial High Court and the District Courts, and developed expertise in drafting legal opinions, commercial contracts, written submissions, and pleadings for trials and arbitrations. Her Sri Lankan legal background also includes arbitration and trial experience in construction, corporate, company, commercial, land and intellectual property law disputes, as well as Fundamental Rights applications. Additionally, Nicola has had experience from multiple legal internships and has completed a period of legal apprenticeship at the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka prior to being called to the Bar as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
Outside her legal practice, Nicola has 10 years of experience as a news anchor for television and radio in Sri Lanka. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, experimenting in the kitchen, as well as a good workout, and advocating for fitness.

Nicola is a member of the State Bar of California, The Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.
Education
Nicola earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London, where she graduated with Honors. She also holds a Master of Laws degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from the University of London. In addition to passing the California State Bar Exam, she has also passed the Bar Exam of Sri Lanka. Apart from her legal education, Nicola has completed the exams of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA UK) up until the Management Level. She has also obtained her Associate (ATCL) and Licentiate (LLCM) Diplomas in Speech & Drama from Trinity College London and the London College of Music, respectively.
